First Look: Wedding | Jake & Dory | Castine, Maine

There are so many cliche's that I can say with this wedding.
Saved the best for last.
Last but not least
I could go on and on.
BUT anyway - yes, we wrapped up our wedding season on October 10, 2010.
10/10/10
10.10.10
And it was just Awesome.
We wanted to share with you a beautiful first look right on the Castine waterfront.
The lighting was golden, the wind was blowing, and the couple was amazing!

So - yes, we are behind on editing and processing.
If I owe you a first look - It is coming - maybe we'll throw in an extra shot for good measure.
If I owe you proofs, they have been ordered.
If I owe you prints, they have been ordered.
If I owe you an event - it's on my to do list.
Thanks to all our great clients for your patience!!!

We hope that everyone is enjoying their long weekend!!
We just capped off our weekend with our final wedding of the season yesterday, and what a season it was!!
Today is Brandi's Birthday - so hop on over to her Facebook page and leave her some Birthday love this morning!!
We just finished a great birthday breakfast and now we are getting the house ready for a couple of Senior Sessions this afternoon!!

BUT - enough about that - how about a great first look from Saturday's wedding?
I think so!
We went a little different for this first look.  We wanted to show off what a wonderful ceremony it was.
And, the look of love in Shawn & Katie's eyes.
LOVE.
IT.

ON another note - anyone out there want to give me an early Christmas present - they can purchase me the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR II lens.
That's how I was able to capture this shot --- FROM THE BACK OF THE CHURCH!

Ok - enough photographer geeking out over that - hope you enjoy the shot of the day!!

Yes, 300 Posts.
We are so happy to see this blog grow, expand and become more and more what we want it to be.

There is so much more to share from this session - and believe me.

First Look: Class of 2011 | Senior Model Dyllan | The Official Shoot

I took a break from editing tonight to upload a quick first look.
Brandi and I did not have a wedding this weekend, but we had enough shoots to keep us busy!
The trouble was deciding which first look to post first.

In order to be fair - I am just posting them in order - over the next three days :)
Up first is Dyllan our Senior Model for the Class of 2011 out of Mt. View.
You saw his studio shoot here.

And he rocked it out on the Belfast waterfront too.
We detoured a bit from the water and in pure Alison Douglass Photography style - we took off in search of some grungy dirty old abandoned buildings.

And we found some.  Course since they use to be fish canneries and such, they smelled like dead fish, but what can you do really?

Anyway - here is the first shot of many to come from our good friend Dyllan.
Leave some comments and come back for more first looks this week!

And yes, there is still time to schedule a Senior Portrait session.
Not much time.
But there is time.
Send us an e-mail!

First Look: Senior Portraits | Meranda | Brewer High School

We had the pleasure last weekend to spend some time with a great member of the class of 2011!
Meranda visited our studio, and then wanted to hit the great outdoors.
Unfortunately it was raining - so the outdoors got postponed until later that weekend.
Well, it was a beautiful day.
And we got some great shots!

Can't wait to share the rest with you later, but for now, enjoy the first look!!

First Look: Wedding | Dan & Shawna | Billings Cove, Maine

It's late.
I got distracted by Survivor tonight - and that put me behind again.
I couldn't go to bed without FINALLY posting a first look at this past weekend's wedding.
My Goodness.
It was BEAUTIFUL.

I have said it before and I say it again - a simple wedding, in a beautiful location is just perfect!
Dan & Shawna - thank you for inviting Brandi and I out to this beautiful location to capture this perfect day with you both.  I can't wait to finish this wedding.

Oh and this photo - BIG potential for a canvas print in the office.
Yah, I think so!

First Look: Wedding | A Ceremony by the Sea | Peter & Sandi | Belfast, Maine

Hurricane Schmurricane
I have to tell you, all of us were praying that the weather was going to cooperate.
And boy did it ever.
With the threat of Hurricane Earl hitting the Maine coast Friday night into Saturday night, there was a little uncertainty on where this wedding was taking place.

Well, we always knew it was taking place at the fantastic Wentworth Event Center in Beautiful Belfast, but we didn't know if it was going to be held outside ---- or inside.

And the sun came out around 11 here in Bucksport, and everything was dry and beautiful for the wedding of Peter & Sandi, and we were all so happy to share in their day!!

Love the genuine smiles on these two!!
So much more to come!

I couldn't end this blog without sharing a shot of the wonderful Wentworth for our good friend Kristine.
Brandi and I are off with my mother today for the BLUE HILL FAIR!!!
We never miss it, and this year the weather is PERFECT for the fair.
Can't wait!
Also can't wait to share our annual fair blog with everyone!!

There is a lot to come on the blog this week - keep coming back and leave those comments!!

First Look: Wedding | A Wedding on the Land | Danny & Katie | Washington & Montville Maine

It wouldn't be a Sunday evening without a First Look at the wonderful wedding Brandi & I photographed this weekend!
Saturday was beautiful - and HOT.
It was another gorgeous weekend in Maine, and why not have a wedding with an outdoor reception!
On the Land.

Loving the signs that direct guests from the ceremony to the reception.  And coming from two people who often get lost - even with directions - the signs were a BIG help!

As much as I wanted to - I couldn't just show you the sign (even though I love it, right down to the painted heart).  I needed to post a great pic of our awesome couple!

I truly can not wait to show you the AWESOME reception.
It was an all night party I am sure!

First Look: Wedding | A Picture Perfect Pair | Jon & Denise | Lucerne Inn Maine

Jon & Denise are a true Ryan & Brandi couple.
Right down to the very last detail.

And believe you me, there are a ton of photographer's dream details!

It was very difficult to post a first look of this wedding - Do I show just the details and leave you wanting more?  Do I show you the getting ready shots that are fantastic? How about the post-ceremony photo shoot that we went on? Or the dazzling reception?

So many to choose from.
SOOO Many!

But in the end, I was sold on the sand ceremony.
I haven't seen one of these for a while - I am SO glad to see that Jon & Denise choose to have a sand ceremony!

Love it!

Jon & Denise - we hope you enjoy your first look and your honeymoon.
Rock out Denise in those Vegas shoes!!

First Look: Wedding | Marbin & Whitney | Orrington Maine

After some technical difficulties and a general mis-understanding we are back online.
I feel like we have a TON of blogging to catch up on!
A TON!!
It was a busy weekend that's for sure, and we started it off with an AH-MAZING couple
This ceremony was just filled with family and emotion --- and you know those are two of my favorite things...
as well as raindrops on roses and all that jazz.

Anyway - here is the first of many first looks from this weekend!!
And believe you me, it was hard to pick a good first look for this wedding.  I had big plans for a sneeky first look ---- but you will have to tune back into the actual blog to see whats going on there!!!

Life is not a race, but indeed a journey. Be honest. Work hard. Be choosy. Say 'Thank you', 'I love you', and 'Great job' to someone each day. Let your handshake mean more than pen and paper. Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you aspire to. Appreciate the little things in life and enjoy them. Some of the best things really are free. Take time for yourself - plan for longivity.
