Trip to the Market - Beth's Farm Market

Since we moved to Bucksport, we don't always get the opportunity to go to Beth's Farm Market as much as we use to, BUT every time we are in Union we are sure to stop by. We were in union for the fair on Saturday and during a stop over at the market I was able to get some awesome shots!

Cabbage - I don't eat it, but it sure looked good.
YUM -O I absolutely love fresh green beans with a lot of butter - the taste of summer.
I tried a new layout with my signature today, I think it works with this picture, but I also like the white border too. FYI, I am planning on transition to a new signature, I think I made one that looks great, I just have to figure out how to make it into a signature background.
I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE my new macro lens, I am learning more and more every day with it, and that is what I used today for all the shots at the market.
Who can resist a strawberry - heaven!!!
Squish Squash.
Love those strawberries!!
Nice melons huh? LOL - I love the sign that goes with these, everything really is grown right there.

Cukes.
Carrots - good for the eyes ;)
More macro practice - love these, I can't remember what these were.
They had a lot of fresh celery there on Saturday. Awesome shots! Love it.
BUD.

I know I know, I have done two posts and still no P365 post - its coming I promise.

FAIR TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the end of August right through September begins our fair season. Brandi and I try to hit as many of the agricultural fairs as we can in the state. I have to admit when Brandi and I first started dating I was not to keen on the fair scene, but I have to say I am hooked now, and one of my favorite is the Union fair. Here are some pics from our afternoon at the fair.
I spend a lot of time in the chicken isle at the fair, I love the hair on this guy! He reminds me of big bird from sesame street!
Although I will NEVER ride on a Ferris wheel I was very attracted to the Ferris wheel at the fair, I love the shots of the colorful carts and the geometric lines they create!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Germ-x. Enough said.
Pigs are so cute!
Another ride. I don't know what it was - and I will never ride on it. But the colors are great!!
Another chicken - I love the look this one is giving me!
Seriously, I don't know what it was, but they just kept looking at me, and I couldn't help taking a picture of them.

Classic fair symbol!
OMG if you EVER go to a Maine Fair, you need to go to this stand and get the HOMEMADE chicken fingers. Love them, I dream about them all summer.
Brandi's favorites - french fries. I have to admit, I LOVE them too!
Anddddddddddddddd this is where we got the fries!
Don't like cotton candy either, but I like the colors.
Keep watching for the project 365 post, its coming I promise. Plus I have a post from Beth's Farm Stand in Union as well.

It's finally here ---- the family shoot I did this weekend

I finally got the photos edited from the shoot I had this weekend. The family was GREAT to work with, and I am so happy with the results. Hope you enjoy!!
Nani and Kendra - too cute - love the smiles on both! I have to tell you, I was a little worried when we first got started. We got to the location and got out of the truck and Jodi came up to me and said "my baby just fell asleep five minutes ago..." In my experience you don't wake a baby up - Kendra was great though, she slept for like 30 minutes while we did some family shots, then she was up and running and all smiles, what a great baby!!
I have been waiting to do a shot like this for a while, it came out better then I imagined!

AWESOME!!!!

CUTIE!!!
Kendra was VERY active the whole time, she would run and fall and get back up and run again, such a cutie.
She was being a drama queen here!

Sisters - too cute!!

Sorry there hasn't been an update in a while...

I have been meaning to do some Project 365 posts, but things have just been crazy recently. I am also planning on having the post of the family shoot we did this weekend too. I am so happy with how those pictures turned out, I can't wait to show the family. I have a little bit more work to do on them. The biggest headache in my life has been buying the house....ugh. I thought things were moving along pretty good, but things stopped yesterday. I have been wanting to get additional money to put new windows in the house before we moved in, so I have been working on getting an estimate for that. Well the company that I wanted to go with can't get out to the house to give me an estimate until next week, so after telling my real estate agent and my mortgage officer they informed me that waiting that long may delay the closing which isn't good. So I freaked out about that a few times yesterday, then started looking into others that could give me an estimate. So thankfully I was able to give this new company some rough measurements for windows, and they are sending someone out tonight to take a look at the mountings so I should have an estimate tomorrow so my appraiser can can finish the appraisal and they can order the title search....ugh - I can't wait until September 15th!

So I guess long story short, stay tuned for some picture posts in the next few days!

Day 88, 89, 90, 91, & 92 --------------------------------- YAY I am posting again!!

Day 88 - It seems like so much time has passed since I posted so i am going to try to recall what i was thinking and my intentions of this picture. Honestly, I can't remember why I took this picture, but it was the only picture I had for day 88. BUTTTTTTTTTT my macro lens really gets the details of my hands!!!
Day 89 - This is a love note that Brandi left me before she went to work. Again I used the macro lens to get a neat shot of the love note. I love getting love notes from her.
Day 90 - Today I received my annual high school alumni newsletter, typically they are sent in may, but it went to my old address, actually it may of been 2 addresses ago. Anyway I didn't get it until august, go figure. Its always good to see what is going on with the other classes that graduated from my high school, and I always check to see if someone I know has written in a little note!!
Day 91 - RAINBOW, well kind of. You can see it a little. This is another shot from work right after I got out. It was BEAUTIFUL all day today, then dark black scary clouds rolled in, it poured for a few minutes then the sun came out again and there you have a RAINBOW, how happy!
Day 92 - Today was a busy day for me. Today was tuition pay and book buy day - plus work and renegotiating my real estate transaction. So I drove to Bangor to pay my tuition and buy my books for class in the fall. I went to the University of Maine first and got my book that I needed then I walked across campus to pay my tuition. Along the way I was reminising about all the good times I had on campus. All the times I walked across the mall with Brandi, I smiled when I passed her old dorm room, and even got a little sentimental over the building where all my classes were. Anyway I snapped this picture of Stevens Hall for today's picture. But wait there is more. I went to the bursar's office to pay my tuition with my debit card and YAY there was NO line, I got right in and whipped out my debit card (my only means of currency at the time) and the cashier informs me that they don't take cards, they only take cards online and they don't take VISA (apparently its not everywhere I want to be), so luckily my credit union has a branch in Bangor, so I walk back across campus and drive to Bangor - get a bank check then drive back to orono and go to the bursars office - well NOW there is a line out the door, Ryan is not impressed. So 30 minutes later I get to the head of the line and pay my bill. Now I have to go all the way back to Bangor and go to Husson to get my book there then I have to head back to Bucksport to let the dog out and check the mail, oh yah and meet with my real estate agent all with in the span of 30-40 minutes. Needless to say I was a little late getting to work at 1pm today, but oh well, I accomplished a lot.

I want to apologize for the delay in posting pictures. I have been taking pics every day as you can see, but I have been very lazy in posting them.

Business update on a side note. I am now offering 20% off any wedding package for university of Maine graduates and alumni. I am also offering another 5% off if you want to have your engagement pictures taken on campus! SPREAD THE WORD!!!

Day 86 & 87 ------------------------------------------- Fun and Family

Day 86 - So Brandi and I had some fun at the Depot today - the HOME DEPOT that is. We got a lot of information about different upgrades we are planning for our soon to be new home, if everything goes well. And of course a big part of the upgrade is always new PAINT, i love painting and ripping off wallpaper. So today's picture is a collection of the paint swatches we picked out.
Day 87 - This is my brother and his fiancee. They are all dressed up for a wedding of a friend's and they are staying with Brandi and I tonight. They of course got all dressed up for the wedding and wanted a picture in their nice clothes. Well Candice wanted a picture in the nice clothes, Josh could care less. Also today we had the home inspection on the house we are looking at. Everything seems great for the house so we are happy there. There will be a couple things we will go back to the table with and see where that gets us, but overall we are very happy and glad the home inspection went well. Stay tuned!

Day 85 ------------------------------ More Macro Practice.

Day 85 - So i went out to the porch because I thought I could take a picture of the spider web out there for today's picture, but i couldn't focus on it, plus the spider scared me, i wish I had a stick to squish it. Anyway, so I went to practice on the petunia out there! Enjoy!

This post is dedicated to Andrew.

This is not part of Project 365, this picture was a special request from Brandi's brother Andrew. He's a firefighter in southern Maine. He saw my Day 36 photo of the firehouse doors that were both closed. He wanted to see a picture with one door open and one door closed. Well I walked by today and there was one door closed and one opened so I tried to get a head on picture like day 36, but I had the new 105mm lens on, so I had to go across the street and practically into someones back yard to get this picture. Hope you like it Andrew!!

Day 81, 82, 83, 84 ----------------------Finally an update

Day 81 - Brandi, the dog and I took a walk on the waterfront again today and the train had pushed the box cars down the tracks so we got to walk beside them, and you know how much I like trains and urban scenes. So here is today's!
Day 82 - Yah i know this is a boring picture, but it's whats inside the folders that count, they are my mortgage application papers all filled out and submitted for approval. Now its just a waiting game....eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.
Day 83 - NEW TOYS. From previous posts you know that I wanted to add some additional pieces to my camera bag, well they arrived today. I got the Sigma 105mm macro lens. LOVE IT. Its very nice and so far I am very happy with it and even ok with it not being a Nikon. The only issue that I have is that the focus is a little loud, I have to be careful about focusing during the prayers at weddings....eeeek. I also got the SB-800 flash for two reasons, the first being I can start playing with the Nikon creative lighting system and secondly I can let Brandi use the SB-600 i got last year. Can't wait to start using all this new stuff.
Day 84 - So I took the new Macro lens out for a test shoot today on my walk. Its going to take some getting use to because the focal plane is sooooooooooooo thin. But when i can get the focus right its AMAZING. Its defiantly going to need some more practice, but i can't wait. I'll have to find some BUGS!!!!

Day 78, 79, 80 ----------------------------------- Still going.

Day 78 - Today was the day I drove to Blue Hill to meet with my mortgage officer. Blue Hill is a place we usually get to about once a year during the fair, and it is really a place where we should go more often. Its not a very large town but its very quaint and quiet and there are just lots of Maine Coast places to explore. We really need to dedicate some time to go explore all that Blue Hill has to offer.
Day 79 - Today was another late night random picture. I was unloading the dishes from the dishwasher and looked up and saw the bright colors of our fiestaware so I went to grab my camera and took a shot. I didn't really compose it very well and the colors are a little off I think, but it was the best I could think of at like 11pm.
Day 80 - Today is another later evening picture, and still kind of random. This is our little wine waiter that guards the wine cabinet. I shot this as I was passing through. Again probably not the best picture, but that is what I have chosen for day 80.

Photographer's Note: I feel like the last 3 days worth of pictures are a little uninspiring. If you have been reading the blog recently you know that I put an offer in on a house and that is has been officially accepted, so I am under contract. I am also under STRESS already which isn't good because I haven't even gotten that far into the mortgage scrutiny part. I go through periods of excitement and stress, tonight is a stress night I think because I haven't been getting enough sleep recently, but I plan on doing some sleeping tonight and then maybe go out tomorrow and get inspired and get my mind off the purchase. On an up note with the purchase of the home I think I am going to have an actual "Office" where I can entertain clients. My ideal space would have a place where I could start a studio too, but the space I am getting does not have that room....yet. I think I will actually add that additional piece of professionalism and bring my clients into my office and talk about what we can do for them with their photography. I think I might expand some of my offerings and use the backyard as well for some pretty standard backdrops for pictures in a hurry. More to come on that, but you may be seeing some pretty long "venting" posts in the future, also some more idea. So I guess bottom line, please excuse my uninspired images for the past few days and I promise to do better then just show you my dishes.

Life is not a race, but indeed a journey. Be honest. Work hard. Be choosy. Say 'Thank you', 'I love you', and 'Great job' to someone each day. Let your handshake mean more than pen and paper. Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you aspire to. Appreciate the little things in life and enjoy them. Some of the best things really are free. Take time for yourself - plan for longivity.
